![]() Xbox Game Bar is straightforward to use but comes with limitations.įrom the capture window, you can do a few things – such as taking a screenshot, enabling your microphone, and most importantly recording the application window you are currently using. This can be opened by clicking the “Capture” button or by finding it in the Widgets Menu. If you’ve not used Game Bar before there will likely be a default layout that pops up, however our focus is on the Capture window. Xbox Game Bar can be found and opened from the start menu or by pressing Win+G on your keyboard, this will then bring up the Game Bar overlay. Despite having the word Xbox in the name, you can use this to record most applications on a Windows computer, not just games, and Xbox Game Bar is included on Windows 10 and 11 so there’s no need to install additional software. You can find these and set your own shortcuts by clicking on settings on the bottom right and then navigating to hotkeys.Firstly, let’s take a look at Xbox Game Bar – this allows you to record an application window on your computer. As default, you'll find recordings stored under C:\Users\XXXX\VideosĪlternatively, you can use hotkeys to start and stop recording.Once you're finished, open the app again and click stop recording.Minimise OBS Studio and go about your business.On the right-hand side, under controls, click "start recording".From the list, select display capture and then select the monitor you want to capture. ![]() At the bottom of that, there's a plus icon.On the bottom left of OBS Studio you'll see a box marked "sources".The easiest way to then record your actions is to use display recording to grab everything happening on your monitor. ![]() Pick recording and follow the prompts there. ![]() Download and install the software and when you first run it you'll be run through a wizard which asks whether you want to optimise for streaming or recording. ![]()
